Reliance Jio Phone Launch will be Available for an Effective Price of Rs 0.

India's richest man Mukesh Ambani on Friday launched what he called an "effectively free" 4G-enabled feature phone handset during the Reliance Industries Ltd's (RIL) 40th annual general meeting (AGM) in Mumbai. The company has christened the handset Jio Phone. The much-anticipated Jio phone launch is expected at today's Reliance Industries AGM, which kicks off at 11am in Mumbai. Chairman Mukesh Ambani will take stage to give his annual update on how the various companies of the group are faring, but all eyes will be on the latter part of the speech where Jio-centric announcements are likely to feature, with the affordable mobile firmly in focus.

This comes roughly a year after the 2016 Reliance AGM, where Ambani announced the public launch of the Reliance Jio telecom network. The venture went on to transform how the telecom industry operates, something that may also be expected of the Lyf/ Jio 4G VoLTE feature phone considering its rumoured price tag as well as its rather long list of features. Mukesh Ambani's speech will be broadcast live on YouTube and other mediums.

The Jio Phone would be available for an effective price Rs 0," Mukesh Ambani, Chairman, RIL said. Customers would be required to pay a refundable security deposit of Rs 1,500 for three years, "for security reasons", the company said.

Voice and data both will come free with an affordable monthly plan of Rs 153, Jio announced.At a plan Rs 153 a month, it is only 3 per cent of the existing price putting an end to unaffordable data for all Indians forever, Ambani said.The company will also offer similar features for a weekly plan for Rs 54, and a two-day plan of Rs 24.

Reliance Jio Phone with 4G VoLTE Features

Reliance JioPhone with 4G VoLTE feature phone sports a square design, along with a 2.4-inch QVGA display. It comes with an Alphanumeric keypad, and a dedicated button for torchlight. It features a headphone jack, microphone, speaker, and supports FM Radio as well.

The 4G VoLTE-enabled JioPhone supports all languages, and users can speak to the device via voice commands. The company is giving people an option to browse Internet on the new JioPhone as well.  And yes, it comes pre-loaded with Jio apps. This means users can watch movies on the 2.4-inch screen using the JioCinema app. Other features of the Jio 4G VoLTE feature phone include SOS feature, which can be activated by pressing 5, support for NFC that enables quick payments, and the ability to cast content.Reliance JioPhone with 4G VoLTE feature phone will hit the markets beginning September first week. All voice calls on Jio network made with this phone are free. Users can pre-order the device starting August 24 from Jio.com as well Jio Digital Stores.

Coming to tariffs, users will have to pay Rs 1500 security deposit for three years, which comes down to Rs 500 a year. Jio has introduced recharge plans as well sachet packs, which start at Rs 153 per month. It gives users unlimited data on this 4G VoLTE feature phone. This unlimited data has 0.5GB or 500 MB FUP per day, which comes to 14 GB for the recharge period.In order to broadcast their JioTV app on their television, users will have to recharge with Rs 309 per month. The monthly plan will let users watch three to four hours of video on a large screen as well. Reliance Jio has two sachet packs of Rs 24 for two days and Rs 54 per week. They come with the same benefits.
